Keep Clear Space in Rehoboth!
A great coastal region deserves great regional theatre!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The Theatre seeks to reverse the decision by the City of Rehoboth Beach’s Mayor and City Commissioners prohibiting the building of a new theatre building in Rehoboth. The Planning Commission has twice approved the building permits- the Mayor and City Commissioners made a mistake in denying them. The community overwhelmingly supports keeping the theatre in Rehoboth.
On August 13, Clear Space Theatre Company and Rehoboth Spotlight, Inc., filed a Petition For Issuance of a Writ of Certiorari and Review of a Decision of the City of Rehoboth Beach Mayor and City Commissioners.
A CALL TO ACTION!
Please tell Rehoboth’s Mayor and City Commissioners to follow the law and allow Clear Space Theatre Company to build a new theatre just down the street.
We also desperately need your financial support in order to pursue the case before the Delaware Superior Court to overturn the Board of Commissioners’ adverse decision. Unfortunately, bringing a court action is expensive — but we have no choice. Without your financial support to do this, the FINAL CURTAIN WILL COME DOWN IN REHOBOTH BEACH!
BACKGROUND
The Clear Space Theatre Company has brought performing arts to Sussex County since 2005. In 2010, the Theatre opened its first rented performance hall in Rehoboth Beach. By 2018 attendance had more than doubled to 20,000 people per year. Today, Clear Space produces and stages 16 popular productions, year-round. Most productions have 10 performances and all shows feature local performers who are directed and trained by Clear Space professionals. Over the past 10 years, the Clear Space Arts Institute has provided training in dance, music and acting to more than 4,000 young performers.
Our tremendous growth and success now requires a larger venue. Today, we are seeking your support to help Clear Space construct a permanent home here, in coastal Delaware. This project will unfold in two phases: the first, f, for the Clear Space Theatre building; and the second a year or so after, for the Spotlight Theatre institute facility.
