When the actress they believe is Native American turns out not to be, their carefully constructed celebration spirals into a hilarious—and painfully recognizable—collision of good intentions, political correctness, and deeply ingrained stereotypes. The Thanksgiving Play is a wickedly smart satire about who gets to tell our stories, how we tell them, and what happens when trying not to offend becomes its own kind of absurdity.
