Hot on the heels of their first season in downtown Rehoboth Beach and inaugural summer repertory season, Clear Space Theatre Company is already preparing to sing and dance their way through spring and summer of 2012. Auditions for both the spring musical, “Little Shop of Horrors,” and their summer repertory season will be held on Friday, December 16.
“Little Shop of Horrors” is the stage adaptation of the 1960’s cult hit film of the same name and its subsequent movie musical, starring Rick Moranis and Ellen Greene. Roles to be cast include Audrey, The Dentist (who will also play over half a dozen other roles), and two of the three doo-wop singing street urchins. Rehearsals begin in early April for run of May 11-27 at the Clear Space Theatre and two performances on June 8 and 9 at the Schwartz Center for the Arts in Dover.
The summer of 2012 will see three more productions take the Clear Space stage – the Kander & Ebb musical “Cabaret,” the ever-popular family musical “Annie,” and a musical revue. The revue will consist of adults from the summer repertory company singing showtunes that highlight their great vocal ability. All roles for these productions are currently open. Summer repertory rehearsals begin in early June toward an opening of June 28. The three shows run in two-day rotations all summer through September 2.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song. Please bring sheet music marked and in the correct key for the accompanist; no a cappella or CD accompaniment auditions are permitted. All auditioning should be prepared for a dance portion as well. No appointments are necessary; auditions begin promptly at 6:00 pm on December 16 at the Clear Space Theatre, located at 20 Baltimore Avenue in Rehoboth Beach.
